Field Guide : LOYO

This project was to create a Field Guide for Junior studio surrounding a topic of our choice throughout Austin. I chose to design an app for locating and comparing frozen yogurt in an specific area, named LOYO ( Low-fat Yogurt) . In the bigger picture the app would ideally allow the user to choose the city in which they are locating frozen yogurt but for the purpose of this project I only developed a portion for the city of Austin. To display this app I created a user testing guide Indesign that would give an overview of how to best utilize all the apps features. The creation of the app itself required field research that further developed my ability to compile and organize large amounts of information to convey in a simpler manor. The app development forced me to think about the topic from different perspectives while simultaneously using the knowledge of user scenarios from interaction design.

Site Redesign

myweb.stedwards.edu/koneill3/Hompage.html

This was an assignment in Interaction Design meant to teach us the basics behind designing and implementing a website. We learned the process that is necessary to create a functioning site as well as what characteristic a site requires to operate properly.  We developed our designs Illustrator and did our best to recreate them through the basic HTML and CSS coding we learned in class as well as coding we found in outside research. We were given specific fonts and color schemes, but aside from that the concept behind the redesign was all our own. I chose to "redesign" or create from scratch a site for my own portfolio, I wanted to incorporate a pop out gallery as well as social media aspects that allowed further connection to my life. This project taught me skills necessary in designing and developing a fully functioning web interface.

Concept Map : Malaria

This was created in Indesign for Junior Studio. The project required the class to develop a concept map that was able to concisely explain a topic of our choice in depth. The project expanded my views on concept maps and their creation. It required considerable research and refinement to reach a level in which people could easily understand its flow. It allowed me to advance my skills of organizing large amounts of information to be easily interpreted. This project also broadened my view on type parings through my  attempts to  establish a differentiation between categories subcategories and linking terms.
